FEEDAPTOR / HOW TO

How do I change rules without accidentally changing a release?

Preview draft rules against the current source and apply only the revision you inspected.

Rules are saved and previewed as a draft before being applied. The preview helps you see how an operation changes mapped or transformed catalog values. Check representative products and counts, especially when a rule could affect many records or alter product grouping.

If the source or draft changes after preview, refresh the preview before applying. Restoring an earlier rule version returns it to a draft so that you can inspect it again; it does not silently republish a release. A rules or validation-profile change can also require rechecking carried review decisions. Prepare a new release only after inspecting the resulting catalog and review state.

What to do

  1. Save the proposed rule as a draft.
  2. Preview against the latest source and inspect affected product examples.
  3. Apply the exact draft revision you reviewed.
  4. Inspect new catalog issues and review recheck reasons.
  5. Prepare a new release separately when the result is correct.
